Incubation period

Period of communicability

1. 1 day before lesion eruptions
2. 6 days after first crop of vesicle when crust have formed
Manifestation

1. Slight fever malaise, anorexia
2. Rash (trunk and scalp)
3. Pruritic
4. Macule
5. Papule
6. Vesicle
7. Crust
Treatment
CHICKENPOX
1. Specific : Acyclovir/VariZig/IGIV
2. Supportive : Diphendramine; Skin care; APA
Nursing care
CHICKENPOX
1. Contact/ Airborne Precautions, unless all lesions are crusted
2. Strict isolation until no new lesion are seen
3. Keep child in home away from susceptible individuals (Until 1 week after vesicles dried) and isolate high risk patients
4. Skin care and linen daily
5. Calamine lotion
6. Keep nails trim
7. Keep child cool
8. Wear mittens
9. Avoid ASA
10. Apply pressure instead of itching
11. Remove loose crust
Preventive
